Johnny Depp took the time to thank fans on TikTok for their words of encouragement during the recent trial involving him and his ex-wife Amber Heard. He said he was overwhelmed by all the positive feedback and moral support he received.
The leading actor from the Pirates of the Caribbean films announced in his newly created TikTok account that he would “move forward” following his trial.
“To all of my most treasured, loyal and unwavering supporters. We’ve been everywhere together, we have seen everything together. We have walked the same road together. We did the right thing together, all because you cared,” Depp wrote to his followers.
“And now, we will all move forward together. You are, as always, my employers and once again I am whittled down to no way to say thank you, other than just by saying thank you. So, thank you. My love & respect, JD,” he added.
The court case between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard has been an interesting one. In a 2018 op-ed forwarded to The Washington Post, Heard called herself “a public figure representing legal abuse.”
While not named by Heard in the op-ed, Johnny Depp’s career suffered. He then filed a complaint before the court and was countered by Heard with another suit.
After a long and hard-fought battle, the jury has finally delivered their decision. One thing is for certain: Johnny Depp will be getting more settlement money than Heard. The jury found both guilty of defamation, but when it came down to compensations, they wanted different things: Depp would be awarded $10 million in compensatory charges plus another $350,000 for punitive damages, while Heard would only receive compensatory damages amounting to $2 million.
During the course of the trial, Depp’s supporters were overflowing, both on TikTok and outside the court, checking on how he was doing.
Meanwhile, Heard’s representative has claimed that the jury was influenced by Depp’s “fame and power.” Her camp might soon file an appeal before the court.
The lawyer for Johnny Depp, Camille Vasquez, has been an instant sensation among her peers and is now promoted to partner at her law firm, Brown Rudnick.
“Camille’s performance during the Johnny Depp trial proved to the world that she was ready to take this next step now. We are incredibly proud of her and look forward to what she will accomplish as our newest partner,” expressed the law firm.
However, the spokesperson for Heard said in a statement, “As Johnny Depp says he’s ‘moving forward,’ women’s rights are moving backward. The verdict’s message to victims of domestic violence is…be afraid to stand up and speak out.”
