The Witches of Riverdale is an upcoming episode in which Kiernan Shipka will reprise the role of everyone’s favorite teenage witch, Sabrina Spellman. Although it was disappointing to hear that this show had been canceled in 2020, fans are eager to see what brings Sabrina back to the small screen.

The overwhelming response from fans was too much once the news went online.

Sabrina’s return to the small screen has been a long awaited one, and fans will finally see her in the 19th episode of Riverdale’s sixth season.

The teenage witch’s return may be a welcome one for fans, but the town of Riverdale is in for a storm.

“When several of their own fall prey to Percival’s (guest star Chris O’Shea) latest plan, Cheryl (Madelaine Petsch) calls upon fellow witch Sabrina Spellman (guest star Kiernan Shipka) for help,” writes the official episode synopsis. “Elsewhere, Percival gives Reggie (Charles Melton) an ultimatum.”

The trailer for Riverdale’s next episode revealed Sabrina Spellman getting tasked to bring Archie and Jughead back from the dead.

The first story in which magic and necromancy appear in the world of Archie and his gang is called “Afterlife with Archie.” The plot revolves around zombies who have taken over Riverdale, but not before a few lucky ones manage to escape.

After Reggie runs over Hot Dog, Jughead seeks the help of Sabrina, hoping she can help bring him back. The events would later lead to the end of normalcy in Riverdale.

While the practice of necromancy is banned in the coven, Sabrina helps a friend out, bringing something back in Hot Dog’s body. After getting bit by whatever it is that returned, Jughead becomes patient zero, bringing about the end of Riverdale.

While the town is in ruins, Sabrina pays for her crime as Aunts Hilda and Zelda offer her as a bride for Cthulhu.

The idea of a horror comic book series that is based on the typical Archie comics’ story might seem unusual at first, but it has been extremely successful and paved way for other titles like Chilling Adventures Of Sabrina (the inspiration behind Netflix’s show), Jughead: The Hunger Vampironica And Blossoms666.

Afterlife with Archie comes from the twisted mind of writer Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa and is brought to life by illustrator Francesco Francavilla.

Fans of the comic will be anticipating how much of The Witches of Riverdale will adopt the Archie Horror story. While it is impossible to fully adapt the story, the parallels are hard to ignore.
