After two years, Taylor Swift released her first original album. Fans resonated strongly with the album “Midnights.”
Taylor originally revealed during the MTV Video Music Awards that she would release a new album. She won Video of the Year during the ceremony, and when she took the stage to claim the honor, she made a revelation about her October album. Swifties, a term for Taylor Swift’s followers, immediately erupted into a frenzy as they anticipated what their idol had in store.
Following a dispute with her old company, Big Machine Records, the 11-time Grammy Award winner has worked relentlessly with her team to recreate her previous records. “Midnights” demonstrates that Taylor’s music has a variety of tastes. Taylor decided to go away from the folk-rock ambiance of her Folklore and Evermore albums and go for a more mainstream sound.
“Midnights is a collage of intensity, highs and lows and ebbs and flows. Life can be dark, starry, cloudy, terrifying, electrifying, hot, cold, romantic or lonely, just like Midnights. Which is out now,” Taylor wrote.

Another Taylor hit
Fans flocked to Spotify as soon as Taylor launched the album to listen to the tracks. However, Spotify crashed due to the high traffic volume, and customers complained about the disruption. Despite this, music fans still deem Taylor’s Album to be successful. Taylor, who also serves as the album’s composer, producer, and singer, is responsible for its 13 songs. Of course, her longtime companion Jack Antonoff assisted Taylor in perfecting and releasing the album. Fans took to social media to convey their admiration for Taylor’s music.
“Can’t stop listening Midnights. This entire album is amazing! You’re so genius, @taylorswift13!” tweeted a fan.
“Taylor Swift mothered so hard with Midnights no one will ever come close to her level of prodigiousness. This woman is not just a talented writer but also a clever musician. I never doubted her,” said another fan.

Critics impressed
Music experts praised Taylor for another musical triumph even if others pointed out certain flaws. The Guardian’s Alexis Petridis gave Midnights a perfect rating of five stars.
“(The sound is) pop rich with self-loathing and stereotype-smashing, (and) misty, atmospheric and tastefully subdued,” he said.
“Midnights delivers her firmly from what she called the ‘folklorian woods’ of her last two albums back to electronic pop,” Petridis added.
The critic also mentioned how much he and the audience enjoyed Taylor’s joint project with Lana del Rey.
“Snow on the Beach (is) beautifully done – a perfect gene-splice between their two musical styles with a gorgeous melody – but it’s a long way from a grandstanding summit between two pop icons: there’s a striking lightness of touch about it, a restrained melding of their voices.”
According to Matthew Neale of Clash Music and Mikael Wood of the LA Times, Taylor’s talent became evident in the songs.
“She’s playing with cadence and emphasizing the grain of her voice like never before … eventually you stop caring what’s drawn directly from Swift’s real life and what’s not,” Wood said.
“Defined by dark nights of the soul and cast in the same bluish-purple hues, ‘Midnights’ offers little of revelatory purpose to those who have yet to succumb to Swift’s charms. For those already swayed by her craft, however, it may reasonably go on to be recognized as her best album to date,” Neale explained.
