Zelensky Says Ukraine Is at a “Strategic Turning Point” Amid Russian Forces Regrouping

Ukraine is at a “strategic turning point” in the war, said President Volodymyr Zelensky Friday, with Russian troops strafing cities all over and seemingly regrouping for an attack on Kyiv. Satellite images display them firing artillery as they move into the capital city of Ukraine.

The governor of Kharkiv has announced that Russian bombs have hit a psychiatric hospital near the Russian border. According to the mayor’s statements, fifty schools in this city were pulverized as well.

Russia’s air attacks have been far-flung from the battleground in northern, eastern, and southern parts of Ukraine.

More than 1,500 people have died since Moscow began its assault on Mariupol. The city council reports that many are trapped without food or water in a 12-day long bulwark that has led many to be trapped without food, water, heat or power.

The Black Sea port was currently entirely thronged, said Russia’s defense ministry, while Ukrainian officials alleged Moscow intentionally forestalled civilians from moving out and humanitarian columns from getting inside.

According to Iryna Vereshchuk, a Ukrainian official involved with the rescue effort in Mariupol during its final stages said that they were hindered by the Russian bombing, which made it difficult for them to get out.

“The situation is critical,” said Vadym Denysenko, Ukrainian interior minister adviser.

Western nations performed economic sanctions with Russia to force Russian President Vladimir Putin to end his attack.

US President Joe Biden announced that the G7 countries would be countermanded Russia’s “most favored nation” trade status, also announcing a ban on Russian seafood, alcohol, and diamonds imports to America.

An additional number of oligarchs and elites, as well as a dozen lawmakers and the family of formerly sanctioned Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, have been pressed by Washington with more sanctions on them.

The meeting between several European leaders ended with an agreement to prepare for more severe economic sanctions against Russia and hand over more support to Ukraine for arms. However, they declined Ukraine’s appeal to join the alliance.
