Most employers in small to mid-sized companies face the same nightmare — offering meaningful healthcare benefits or failing to attract or maintain exceptional talent in their companies.

On top of that, they have to deal with challenges in healthcare insurance, such as rising costs, convoluted structures, and stakeholders unwilling to enact meaningful reforms.

The rules and regulations imposed by government entities and insurance providers don’t make it better. They leave the employers trapped in a cycle of escalating premiums, diminishing benefits, and feeling powerless to enact any lasting change. Their employees are also left to bear the brunt of the consequences.

However, there are still people willing to do something about it and advocate for changes. John Butler, a health benefits consultant, and founder of JB Benefits Consulting, is a notable one.

He has dedicated his career to empowering employees with transparency, consumer choice, and competition to enable them to get the most affordable healthcare benefits and save on costs.

John offers a completely different approach to shopping business healthcare. After selling his own brokerage firm, John went on a mission to find the finest brokers at leading brokerage firms around the nation. These firms’ contract with JB Benefits Consulting and rely on John to market their unique approaches around the Country.

Notably, John determined that the average employer nationwide is spending almost $14,000 per employee per year (PEPY) on business healthcare. John says that his best-of-the-best healthcare warrior brokers are averaging between $6000 and $8000 PEPY. You can do the math yourself, but if you’re a company with just 100 employees, the savings are around $500,000, with no reduction in benefits to employees.

John Butler’s Business Journey

John Butler grew up in a humble background in Bloomington, Minnesota. After completing college at Moorhead State College, he started his working life doing odd jobs until his ambition and determination landed him in the world of finances.

He landed a permanent position at Mass Mutual Companies, where he quickly made a name for himself, even earning the Rookie of the Year award and a trip to Hawaii. This was 1988. For the next 13 years, he worked as a financial advisor.

However, his transition into entrepreneurship marked the beginning of his mission to revolutionize the healthcare industry.

In 1996, John founded JB Benefits Consulting. He purchased an employee benefits business from his colleague at c, which allowed him to manage various benefits for businesses. These included dental disability, health, and life insurance for small to mid-sized companies.

In 3 years, John managed to turn around the business from managing 26 companies to an impressive 110 companies. He ran his securities and employee benefits businesses until he sold them in 2022 and 2023 to become an independent business healthcare consultant.

But what led John to focus on healthcare?

“Out of all the benefits I handled, this was the “Big elephant” in the room,” John Butler says. “The costs kept rising yearly while the benefits were deteriorating within each company I managed.”

John explains that he realized that freedom was very limited for most employers in America. The government and insurance companies made all the regulations, leaving the employers with little to no room for impactful changes.

Additionally, the employers were left helpless and in a tricky situation, knowing that if they did not offer healthcare, no one would want to work for them.

Empowering Employers With Sustainable Healthcare Solutions

John Butler set his sights on finding free market solutions that could change the course of business healthcare. This quest led to a 14-year journey of research that led to a devastating realization that the system was designed to benefit only a few players, and employers and their employees were not among them.

Health insurance companies, pharmacy companies, and other stakeholders were the real beneficiaries.

This revelation only strengthened John’s commitment to advocate for empowering employers to take control of their healthcare options. In 2021, he wrote and published his book, “Health Insurance Sucks.”

The book lays bare the flaws in the current healthcare systems and offers practical solutions for employers seeking relief. It aims to usher in an era of affordability and accessibility of business healthcare solutions.

Today, John Butler and his team at JB Benefits Consulting continue to guide employers seeking affordable and sustainable business healthcare solutions for their companies. With determination, passion, and a wealth of experience, the visionary seeks to revolutionize the industry, one business at a time.

Butler plans to roll out his innovative marketing program aimed at employers nationwide. His program is scheduled for launch on July 4th, 2024. A fitting date since freedom for employers in this space has been sadly missing for decades.
