In the realm of addiction treatment, Sabih Faraz stands out as a beacon of hope and innovation. As the driving force and CEO of Kemah Palms Recovery®, Faraz is revolutionizing the approach to addiction care, bringing a fresh perspective to a field often misunderstood and stigmatized.
From Medical Roots to a Healthcare Leader
Faraz’s journey is as unique as his approach to treatment. Originally from Pakistan, he pursued a career in medicine, obtaining a license to practice in Pakistan and Ireland before making his way to the United States. His path took an unexpected turn when he completed an MBA in healthcare management and received certifications from Harvard Business School in healthcare strategy delivery realizing that lives can be saved not only by becoming a medical provider but optimizing and implementing innovation in a healthcare setting.
It was during his tenure managing psychiatric hospitals in Texas that Faraz discovered his calling in addiction treatment. Working with the Cenikor Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to saving lives, he oversaw multiple locations, medical staff, and a medication-assisted This experience opened his eyes to the pressing need for compassionate, effective addiction care.
Redefining Addiction Treatment
At Kemah Palms Recovery®, Faraz offers a holistic approach to addiction treatment that sets the facility apart. “Addiction is a disease,” Faraz emphasizes, challenging the common misconception that it’s merely a bad habit or personal failing. Faraz is dedicated to removing stigma and reinforces “Addiction equals cancer of Shame, Guilt, and Fear. Let Kemah Palms Help Treat. This fundamental understanding shapes every aspect of the treatment process at Kemah Palms.
The facility offers a comprehensive continuum of care, starting with medically supervised detox. Unlike many other treatment centers, Kemah Palms provides counseling support even during this initial phase, recognizing the importance of addressing both physical and psychological aspects of addiction from day one.
Following detox, patients transition to a residential treatment program lasting up to 30 days. This immersive environment allows individuals to focus entirely on their recovery, free from external triggers and distractions. The program includes a variety of therapeutic approaches, including individual counseling, group therapy, equine therapy, sound bath, art therapy, and holistic treatments.
Innovation in Outpatient Care
Recognizing that recovery is an ongoing process, Kemah Palms offers a range of outpatient programs to support clients as they transition back to daily life. These include in-person and virtual partial hospitalization programs (PHP) and intensive outpatient programs (IOP), providing flexible options to meet individual needs and schedules.
In a move that demonstrates their commitment to long-term recovery, Kemah Palms has also established sober living facilities. These provide a supportive environment for individuals who may need additional time and structure before fully reintegrating into their communities.
Addressing the Fentanyl Crisis
Faraz is acutely aware of the current challenges in addiction treatment, particularly the rise of fentanyl. He notes the alarming trend of this potent opioid being laced into other substances, often without the user’s knowledge. This has led to an increase in accidental overdoses and has complicated the treatment landscape.
In response, Kemah Palms has implemented advanced testing protocols to identify the presence of fentanyl and other substances. They distribute free Narcan to the graduates and families in case of any relapse or unseen incident. Kemah Palms has increased their focus on educating clients and their families about the risks associated with fentanyl and the importance of harm reduction strategies.
A Vision for the Future
Looking ahead, Faraz’s goal is to save more lives and families than last year. He extend beyond the walls of Kemah Palms. He’s passionate about spreading resources, awareness, and education about addiction as a disease. The facility offers free Narcan, a life-saving medication that can reverse opioid overdoses, to all program graduates. Faraz hopes to partner with state-level organizations to expand access to treatment and resources for those in need. He is a proud supporter of Veterans and the Native American Population and is working closely with the leaders to be able to provide them with access to treatment and resources where required.
Through his work at Kemah Palms Recovery®, Sabih Faraz is not just treating addiction – he’s changing the conversation around it. By combining medical expertise with compassion and innovation, he’s offering hope to those struggling with substance use disorders and their families. In Faraz’s vision, addiction treatment is not just about overcoming a disease, but about reclaiming lives and restoring dignity.
