In today’s fast-moving entertainment landscape, the ability to connect sponsors, celebrities, and audiences is not just a skill — it’s a craft. For nearly 20 years, Eric Vollweiler has honed that craft, producing and marketing film festivals, music showcases, and entertainment events across the globe.
A Career Built from the Ground Up
Vollweiler’s journey into the world of entertainment production began with humble beginnings. While still in college, he took on the task of selling theater advertising. This early exposure to the marketing side of entertainment laid the foundation for his future career. What started as an entry-level role evolved over time as Vollweiler honed his skills and began understanding the ins and outs of how the entertainment industry operates — not just on the surface, but behind the scenes.
His career took off when he transitioned into producing and marketing entertainment events. Over the years, he had the opportunity to work on notable international festivals such as Sundance, Cannes, and Toronto, as well as numerous smaller but highly respected festivals. His expertise spans a range of areas, including sponsorships, advertising, social media strategy, and celebrity booking. This versatility has made him a highly sought-after producer and consultant, with a client list that includes big names such as Final Draft, B&H, and MovieMaker Magazine.
What sets Vollweiler apart is not only his extensive experience but his ability to adapt to the evolving entertainment landscape. He has successfully navigated the shifts in how audiences consume media, helping brands and organizations connect with their target audiences in meaningful and innovative ways. Through his years of working with high-profile clients and prestigious festivals, Vollweiler has earned a reputation as a reliable and knowledgeable figure within the industry.
Beyond Entertainment: Vollweiler’s Vision for Inclusion and Accessibility
While Vollweiler’s career in entertainment has been marked by notable achievements, his passion goes beyond just producing events and working with big-name clients. At the core of his work is a broader mission — one rooted in diversity, inclusion, and arts accessibility. Vollweiler believes that festivals and events have the potential to do more than showcase talent; they can also serve as platforms for social change, bringing people together from all walks of life and providing opportunities for marginalized groups.
One of Vollweiler’s key beliefs is that the arts can be a powerful tool for fostering connection and understanding. His work is guided by the idea that festivals should not only celebrate creativity but also provide a platform for underrepresented voices to be heard. As he continues to work in the entertainment industry, he’s become increasingly passionate about using his position to create opportunities for others. Through his involvement with various festivals, Vollweiler is helping to create spaces where diverse voices and perspectives can flourish, both on screen and behind the scenes.
Currently, Vollweiler serves as the marketing director for the 10th Annual New York State International Film Festival, which is scheduled to take place on October 3–4 in Albany, NY. Additionally, he is involved in the 7th Annual Venus on Broadway International Film Festival, set for December 20 in Manhattan. Both festivals embody his belief that film and other creative events should do more than simply entertain; they can also inspire communities and open doors for emerging creators, especially those from underrepresented backgrounds.
Expanding the Scope: Fundraising for Inner-City Children
As Vollweiler looks to the future, he’s preparing to shift his career focus towards a cause that is deeply important to him: fundraising for inner-city children in the arts. For Vollweiler, creative expression is not just a form of entertainment, but a lifeline — especially for children in underserved communities. By introducing young people to the world of art, music, theater, and film, Vollweiler believes they can develop valuable skills, build confidence, and gain a sense of purpose.
“Art has the ability to provide hope,” Vollweiler says, reflecting on his own experiences. “It opens up new possibilities and gives children in inner-city areas the chance to see beyond their immediate circumstances. When kids are encouraged to explore their creativity, it offers them a sense of direction and a positive outlet for their energy.”
Vollweiler sees his work in the entertainment industry as a means to an even larger end — using his success and platform to give back to communities that often lack access to the resources they need to succeed. He believes that, through arts education and mentorship, young people can break free from the challenges that often come with growing up in difficult circumstances.
Uplifting the Next Generation
As Vollweiler transitions his focus toward arts fundraising, he is committed to continuing to work within the entertainment industry, producing high-profile festivals and events that serve as platforms for aspiring creators. However, the heart of his mission remains the same: using his position to uplift the next generation.
Vollweiler emphasizes that success in entertainment is not solely about achieving fame or recognition; it’s about using one’s influence to create a lasting impact. “Entertainment is often seen as a glamorous world, but I’ve always believed that it should be used as a tool for good,” he reflects. “It’s not about the spotlight; it’s about how that spotlight can be used to help others.”
Vollweiler is currently working to build a network of mentors, educators, and industry professionals who can support his efforts in bringing arts education to young people. Through partnerships with local schools, community organizations, and fellow creatives, he aims to create opportunities for children in underserved areas to experience the transformative power of the arts.
Looking Ahead
As he continues to make waves in the entertainment industry, Vollweiler’s long-term vision is to see a world where diversity and inclusion are deeply embedded within the entertainment landscape. He hopes to inspire future generations of artists, producers, and creators to use their talents not just for personal success, but for the betterment of society as a whole.
“Entertainment has the power to change the world,” Vollweiler says. “And I want to be a part of that change, helping to create a more inclusive and accessible world for everyone.”
With his focus on arts education, community empowerment, and promoting diversity in entertainment, Eric Vollweiler is proving that success is not just about what you accomplish for yourself, but also about how you can use your accomplishments to uplift others.
