Self-defense training involves more than mastering the mechanics of shooting a firearm. It requires a deep understanding of the gravity of using a weapon in a defensive situation. Artemis Defense Institute emphasizes the importance of this understanding, ensuring that trainees are physically and mentally prepared. With over a decade of experience and a client base exceeding 32,000 military personnel, law enforcement officers, and responsible civilian gun owners, Artemis has solidified its position as a leader in the industry.

Artemis Defense Institute believes that effective training programs must go beyond mere target practice. Real-life scenarios often involve high-stress situations where psychological and emotional responses play a crucial role. This is why Artemis has developed a unique modular training approach that utilizes advanced interactive use of real-life simulators, allowing trainees an immersive experience to practice decision-making in realistic environments. Their training facilities use live-fire training with state-of-the-art indoor video simulations & virtual reality. These will hone not only a student’s tactical skills but also their situational awareness skills, as the curriculum focuses on stress inoculation – working towards the trainee being able to recall the training, focus, and function in high-stress scenarios.

With the ongoing installation of a Milo Ready Range®, students will be able to engage in shooting practice with an instructor who will focus on specific live-fire skill improvements. Training sessions in the Range will be conducted in the same manner: one student and an instructor. They can be used for CCW qualification shoots as well as law enforcement and security qualification shoots. With this, the Artemis Defense Institute will be able to provide a full spectrum of training from weapons manipulations, mindset development, judgmental use of force, and tactics to live fire proficiency. The Range is expected to go live in September 2024.

Steven Lieberman, co-owner of Artemis Defense Institute, is a prominent figure in the field of firearms law, self-defense, and home invasions. As one of the nation’s leading attorneys specializing in these areas, Lieberman boasts a 100% win record in the courtroom. His expertise extends beyond legal representation; he is a highly sought-after public speaker, trainer, and expert witness. Lieberman’s vision for Artemis is to merge innovation with excellence, setting new standards in firearms education and legal compliance.

Lieberman’s involvement ensures that Artemis Defense Institute not only trains individuals in the technical aspects of using firearms but also educates them on the legal implications and responsibilities. This holistic approach to training ensures that individuals are not only proficient in handling their weapons but also comprehend the severe consequences of their actions.

According to Steven, “Technical skill ensures accuracy and control, minimizing the risk of unintended harm. Legal knowledge is critical to understanding the boundaries of self-defense and the implications of using lethal force. Ethical discernment, perhaps the complex, involves making split-second decisions that weigh the value of human life and the consequences of one’s actions. The proficiency imperative is defined by the practical application of these multiple facets.”

While firearms training is the cornerstone of Artemis Defense Institute’s offerings, the institute recognizes the importance of versatility in self-defense. Therefore, Artemis provides a range of classes on improvised weapons, both lethal and non-lethal. These include training on the use of scarves, wires, broomsticks, defensive walking sticks, knives, pepper spray, and more. This “Soup to Nuts” approach to self-defense training ensures that individuals are equipped to defend themselves in various situations using different tools.

Artemis Defense Institute’s commitment to comprehensive self-defense training extends beyond individual preparedness. A broader societal dimension exists in armed self-defense. Responsible gun ownership and well-trained armed citizens contribute to overall public safety, and by providing thorough and realistic training, Artemis plays a vital role in fostering a community of informed and responsible gun owners.
