It is not every day young professionals consider a career in aviation maintenance, but Prima Air has a vision to attract new interest.

The Right Team

Having the right people in the right positions is crucial for any operation to work smoothly – and Prima Air has perfected this notion. The team has recently celebrated the National Aviation Maintenance Technician (AMT) Day on 24 May by holding a cookout, giving staff the chance to celebrate and bond.

The mechanics are the aviation sector’s unsung heroes and the behind-the-scenes miracle makers. They are responsible for maintaining and repairing aircraft, so the National Day provides the perfect opportunity for the industry to showcase its importance.

Aviation Expertise At Heart

At the very center of Prima Air’s operations lies a wealth of knowledge and technical expertise, with Adam Stanley, VP of Maintenance, overseeing processes.

“My job is to make sure everyone has what they need to be successful, empowering people to make decisions, leads to better growth and overall happiness at work,” he explains.

Stanley started his career as an entry-level mechanic at Gulfstream Aerospace, where he spent 15 years. There he became one of the original members of the Gulfstream Field Airborne Support Team (FAST), establishing 7 FAST bases and managing the West Coast operation with over 25 technicians deployed worldwide supporting AOG aircraft.

Looking for the next challenge in his aviation career, he left Gulfstream to become the Director of Maintenance for a charter operator. As the accountable manager to the FAA he was responsible for a fleet of over 60 corporate aircraft and maintenance technicians based globally.

“My advice would be for anyone interested in pursuing a career in aviation maintenance to go for it. It has been one of the best decisions for me personally. Every day is different, and it has allowed me to meet great people all over the world.”

“It is an extremely rewarding experience that takes a lot of hard work and dedication.”

Dedication Meets Safety

Rewards can come in many shapes and forms in the aviation maintenance sector, especially when working for Prima Air.

“We are a close-knit group that supports each other,” Stanley notes. “Everyone is highly skilled in their own way, together we have over 280 years of aviation maintenance experience.”

The team has definitely reaped its share of rewards, as Pegasus Elite Aviation – recently acquired by Prima Air – has maintained the highest industry-standard Argus Platinum Safety Certification since 2008. “Working as an aviation maintenance technician at Prima Air is a rewarding experience that offers talented individuals great opportunities within an industry-leading company committed to the highest standards,” Stanley adds.

And what about the job itself? “A typical day for a maintenance technician at Prima Air is never the same,” he explains. “One day you can be replacing a tire and another day troubleshooting an autopilot issue or replacing a winglet. Our technicians gain a lot of experience from the fast-paced and ever-changing environment.

Prima Air also provides training programs for aviation technicians for hands-on experience. Due to high demand, new graduates can easily secure a well-paying job upon completion of the program, meaning additional experience and a great career start.

“Our primary mission is to keep the aircraft in the safest possible condition to deliver the premium experience that our passengers expect.”
