“Back then, I was on Melrose [Avenue], in a 4,000-square-foot shop. They gave me the fabric, and I made the cushions, and they put it in the show right from my storeroom,” he says.

The sofa he supplied can be seen in episode one as Bea Arthur, who played Dorothy, walks through the living room in her first scene. 

This successful collaboration established Schwartz’s reputation as a trusted authority in vintage rattan, and his furniture became a beloved part of TV history.
