In the bustling cities of America’s West Coast, amidst the myriad of culinary ventures that dot its vibrant landscape, one company stands out not just for its mouthwatering dishes but for its remarkable backstory and ambitious mission. Tasty W’s, a burgeoning catering enterprise based in Anaheim, California, is the brainchild of Delicia and Lance, a couple whose journey together is as flavorful and rich as the meals they serve.

Delicia, originally hailing from Compton, CA, sought a new beginning in Las Vegas in 2015 after enduring challenges in her personal life. It was here she met Lance through an online dating platform. Lance was upfront about his circumstances; he was under house arrest in Brooklyn at the time. Despite this unconventional start, their connection was undeniable. Within two weeks of meeting, they decided to live together.

Their relationship was anchored deeply in their shared faith right from the onset. Sundays were reserved for church attendance—a practice they diligently followed for the first two years together. However, tragedy struck when Lance’s grandmother passed away. The loss had a profound effect on him; upon returning from Virginia, where his grandmother resided, Delicia observed a drastic change in his demeanor—his behavior became frantic and unpredictable.

Initially attributing these changes to potential ADHD—a condition suggested by Lance’s mother, who battled bipolar disorder—it soon became apparent that Lance’s issues were far more severe. Following his grandmother’s death and subsequent job loss in Las Vegas, Delicia faced no choice but to admit Lance into a mental health facility.

This marked the beginning of a tumultuous phase for them both. Delicia decided to uproot their lives from Vegas to Virginia to ensure Lance received adequate support and treatment for what was later diagnosed as bipolar disorder—an ordeal that forced them apart physically but not spiritually. Their unwavering faith and nightly phone calls reading Bible passages together sustained their bond during this period.

The following year brought significant improvements; with proper medication and support from family members in Virginia, Lance stabilized considerably. This allowed him to transfer jobs closer to Delicia, who had since moved back to California due to her own health struggles with diverticulitis.

Once reunited under one roof—with Delicia’s parents this time—they married and slowly began rebuilding their lives together. It was during this period of recovery and reflection that Tasty W’s came into being—a testament to their resilience and desire to contribute positively to society through their love for food.

Tasty W’s operates with a unique business model; selling dishes online once a month with proceeds going towards feeding those less fortunate. This initiative isn’t just about food—it symbolizes second chances and the transformative power of love and faith against all odds.

Delicia reflects on those challenging initial years with pride at how far they’ve come despite facing what seemed like insurmountable obstacles at times—Lance’s undiagnosed bipolar disorder stemming from witnessing his sister’s tragic death years ago in New York being one such hurdle they overcame together.

Today, Tasty W’s continues its upward trajectory with ambitions extending beyond the West Coast—aiming to reach more hearts (and stomachs) across America. Their story resonates deeply within each dish served—a reminder that every setback can be turned into an opportunity for growth and giving back.

As they look towards expanding Tasty W’s reach nationwide, both Delicia and Lance are driven by a singular goal—to leave behind their conventional careers entirely for full-time catering while making an indelible impact on communities through culinary excellence coupled with philanthropy.

They mutually express this vision saying, “If we could move away from our 9-to-5s and just do catering full-time while providing well for those less fortunate—that is our main goal right there.”

Follow their journey on Instagram @tasty_ws where every post captures not just tantalizing culinary creations but also stories of hope, perseverance, love—and above all—the belief that kindness can indeed create ripples capable of changing lives.
