Italy is a must-visit destination for your travel bucket list. It offers a plethora of unique experiences waiting to be explored. From its rich history and culture to its diverse natural landscapes, Italy aims for a journey like no other.
Nature
Italy is full of nature. From beaches to forests to lakes to mountains, you can experience it all in just this one country. Italy also has many national parks. What’s great about this is that national parks are protected nature lands, so when you visit these areas, you get a natural experience of nature. One example of this in the country of Italy is Cinque Terre. This national park has everything you need, such as beaches with turquoise blue ocean waters and many hiking trails. One of the premier hiking trails here is the “Blue Trail.” This trail will take you through the small towns that make up Cinque Terre to experience the whole area, history, culture, and scenic views. Cinque Terre is also full of vineyards, so if you want to experience Italian wine culture, you can get it here with a spectacular view.
Small Towns
There are so many small towns that make up the country of Italy. Visiting these small towns will give you an authentic experience that will allow you to see what life in Italy is like. Every small town has its history and traditions you can also learn about. Not to mention, people in Italy are warm and welcoming, so you can rest assured you will not be treated like an outcast in any small town in Italy.
Architecture
From cathedrals to castles to palaces, so much architecture makes up the country of Italy. There are many iconic sites included in this category, such as the Leaning Tower of Pisa, where you can climb to the top for fantastic aerial views. Another example is the Colosseum, known for its gladiator entertainment.
Art
Italy is known for being home to some of the world’s famous artists, including Michelangelo. You can visit Florence, where you can see the famous David sculpture created by Michelangelo, or Vatican City to see the Sistine Chapel.
History
There is so much history that makes up the country of Italy, as well. You can visit sites such as Pompeii. This is where Mount Vesuvius erupted in 79 AD and destroyed the city. It still lies in ruins, but it can be visited where tourists can appreciate a glimpse into Roman life.
Food
Italy is known for having some of the premier food in the world. It is famous for simple and fresh local ingredients, such as pasta, gelato, cheese, and wine. If you visit Naples, you will discover some of the premium pizza, as this is the birthplace of pizza itself.
Culture
Italy has a strong sense of culture, and you are sure to run into many celebrations of it throughout the country. One experience you might want to consider is the Palio di Siena. This historic horse race, which dates back to the 17th century, is held twice a year in Siena. This celebration is deeply embedded in the traditions and identity of Siene, and it offers a truly exhilarating experience for tourists.
While there is so much more to discuss regarding what to see and do in Italy, these are just a few that show why you should vacation in Italy. You will be nothing short of bored and gain a lot of experience and knowledge about other areas of the world.
