As we gather to commemorate Juneteenth and celebrate diversity, the spotlight shines on a transformative figure who has devoted her life to the cause of inclusivity and education – Tanya White. An author, radio host, and educator hailing from Louisville, Kentucky, White symbolizes a beacon of hope and resilience for those struggling to make their mark in the world.

Tanya White’s journey is as compelling as it is inspiring. A member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority and an aficionado of the group New Edition, she is no ordinary personality. Holding a string of degrees from the University of Louisville, including a bachelor’s in business management, two master’s in special education and k-12 school counseling, and a specialist degree in educational leadership/principal certification, Tanya’s academic credentials reflect her deep commitment to learning.

Interestingly, education wasn’t initially Tanya’s calling. Initially aspiring to be a corporate trainer, she stumbled upon the world of education while working as a substitute teacher. Her tenacity and love for the profession quickly became evident as she took up a challenging teaching assignment in one of the district’s lowest-performing schools, marking the beginning of her impactful twenty-year career in education.

Tanya’s creative and communicative prowess became apparent when she launched her blog in 2005, following the painful loss of her mother to lung cancer. Writing served as a cathartic release and soon morphed into a formidable platform for self-expression. She self-published her first book in 2007 and in 2008, took to the airwaves with her Blog Talk Radio show, Real Talk With Tanya White. Today, with ten books under her belt and a widely popular radio show and podcast, Tanya’s influence continues to grow.

However, the journey was not devoid of tribulations. The loss of her father at 25, her mother at 34, and her partner, Stefon, at 50, tested her resilience. The pain of these losses, particularly Stefon’s, brought a deeper perspective and appreciation for life. Tanya’s story underscores the fundamental truth – grief is inevitable, yet it can birth unimaginable strength and fortitude.

Having been in the industry since 2005, Tanya specializes in coaching authors to write and self-publish their books while helping them develop a magnetic media presence. Her approach is characterized by transparency, truthfulness, and timeliness, ensuring tangible results for her clients.

Tanya’s perspective on success is grounded in authenticity. She perceives it as living life without shame, blame, or apology, aligned with one’s purpose, peace, and divine plans. Her philosophy finds expression in her upcoming 10th book, Professionally Lynched: Revealing Systemwide Workplace Injustices and Healing From the Lifelong Trauma It Causes Everyone. The book aims to expose discriminatory practices in workplaces, specifically addressing the challenges Black women face in acquiring decision-making roles.

In the coming weeks, Tanya will be participating in four Juneteenth events hosted by Louisville’s Juneteenth festival. She will also be a featured author at the Indianapolis Black Expo weekend in July 2023, where she will facilitate a discussion on the topic Wounded While Working: Barriers Black Women Face After They Get A Seat At the Decision Making Table.

Tanya’s presence is also prominent online. Her insightful radio show, Real Talk With Tanya White, and her engaging podcast, Go Get It With Tanya White, offer a blend of fun, information, and high energy. Her social media platforms are a treasure trove of motivation, wisdom, and empowerment.

In a world where the question, “Am I Enough?” often plagues our minds, Tanya White’s story resonates loud and clear. She teaches us how the DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion) barriers extend beyond the classroom, and how we, too, can embrace our strengths, accept our flaws, and exclaim, “YES, I AM ENOUGH!”

Tanya White is not merely an author or a radio host. She is a force to reckon with, a harbinger of change, a champion of diversity and equity, and a powerhouse of inspiration. As we move towards a more inclusive future, figures like Tanya White remind us of the power of resilience, the beauty of diversity, and the potential that lies within each of us.
