San Francisco, CA — Guided by the teachings of H.H. Dorje Chang Buddha III and Shakyamuni Buddha, Hua Zang Si Temple has long upheld the spirit of great compassion, transforming loving-kindness into meaningful actions to benefit all sentient beings. Rooted in the practice of Bodhicitta, the Temple’s charitable initiatives continue to bring warmth, care, and support to individuals, families, and animals in need.
Now in its second year, the “Love Without Limits” donation drive reflects Hua Zang Si Temple’s ongoing commitment to community service and humanitarian outreach across the Bay Area. The initiative supports animal rescue organizations, homeless and low-income families, and local food banks, reaffirming the Temple’s dedication to serving vulnerable populations.
On March 13, Hua Zang Si Temple began the day with a visit to the San Francisco-Marin Food Bank, followed by an afternoon outreach to Muttville Senior Dog Rescue. The Temple donated approximately 3,200 pounds of essential food supplies to the Food Bank, including rice, black beans, peanut butter, and a variety of canned fruits and vegetables. According to the Food Bank, more than one in five Californians currently experience food insecurity, with many families forced to make difficult choices between housing, childcare, healthcare, and basic nutrition. Hua Zang Si Temple’s contribution supported the organization’s efforts to serve approximately 36,000 households each week, helping to ease the burden on families facing economic hardship.

Later that afternoon, Hua Zang Si Temple delivered 187 donated items to Muttville Senior Dog Rescue, including collars, leashes, harnesses, pet beds, fleece blankets, dog waste bags, and cleaning supplies. The Temple’s belief in the equality of all beings is reflected in these acts of compassion, extending care to senior dogs who are often overlooked. As the first cage-free rescue organization in the United States and California’s first nonprofit dedicated to senior dogs, Muttville rescued more than 1,353 dogs in 2025. The organization continues to change public perceptions of older dogs while advocating for their dignity and well-being. With support from partners such as Hua Zang Si, Muttville is able to provide comfort, safety, and a second chance for senior dogs in need.

On March 17, Hua Zang Si Temple visited the Homeless Prenatal Program (HPP), an organization dedicated to supporting underserved families and pregnant individuals experiencing homelessness. HPP provides essential services, including housing assistance, education, employment resources, and critical supplies. During this visit, Hua Zang Si Temple donated 100 items, including baby bottle gift sets, portable booster seats, strollers, infant carriers, baby bouncers, collapsible wagon carts, dehumidifiers, and baby bath gift sets. These contributions offered both practical support and emotional reassurance to expectant mothers during uncertain times. In 2025, HPP served 4,019 families, a number that has been growing as rising living costs push more households into housing instability.
Through sustained community partnerships, Hua Zang Si Temple demonstrates that true compassion transforms into actions that uplift lives and bring hope where it is needed the most. As the “Love Without Limits” donation drive grows, it stands as a testament to the power of collective kindness. It reminds us that when compassion is put into action, it has the ability to transcend boundaries, inspire change, and encourage a path toward a more caring and connected world.
