Directed by Abel Ferrara, Body Snatchers isn’t a typical outer space movie and it’s not even sci-fi. But it’s so well directed and acted that we couldn’t leave it off our list. And the story could easily happen in real life, which makes it even more frightening.

2 – STARMAN (1992):

This movie revolves around a little boy who is chosen to be the new Christ at the age of ten. Our young hero is raise in a seclude convent and eventually manages to escape with a couple of other children. He sets out on a journey to follow the Starman, who will guide him on his way to becoming Jesus.

3 – THE THING (1982):

When we mention alien invasions in outer space, this movie immediately comes to mind. The Thing is the remake of a 1951 psychological horror film of the same name. It’s definitely worth watching.

4 – THE TERMINATOR (1984):

There was no way we could leave off one of the most successful movies in this genre. The Terminator is about time travel and an evil cyborg sent from the future to kill Sarah Conner, who will give birth to her son – the saviour of humanity in future years.
When an alien spacecraft crashes in Mexico, an elite force of Marines is sent to investigate. Once there, they find themselves up against an enemy unlike anything they have ever encountered.
This horror/sci-fi movie is perfect for young and old, as it has some elements of both genres.

5 – THE ABYSS (1989):

Direct by James Cameron, this movie is about a group of Navy SEALs who are sent on an underwater mission to investigate an alien ship that has been discover near the Challenger Deep in the Pacific Ocean.
This movie is huge in all regards. The Abyss was the first feature film to use the revolutionary technique of digital morphing created by Industrial Light & Magic. And that’s not all that makes this movie special. It do a great job of making us feel for the characters, who are trap in a terrible situation with no easy route to salvation.
The Thing from Another World is based on the 1938 novella “Who Goes There?” by John W. Campbell, Jr.

6 – THE LORDS OF SALEM (1994):

The immortal vampire Lord Byron (Anthony Hopkins) is awaken from his 1,000 year slumber and set free to his terror. He and his faithful followers head to a small town in Virginia to gather a group of beautiful women. Once they have the women’s blood, they shall transform into monster vampires.
If you love vampire movies, The Lords of Salem is a must-see.

Why is outer space movie so famous?


It’s funny that you ask this question. I watched “Space balls” with my son last week and we both thought it was pretty funny.
Maybe it’s because the outer space movies are so far-fetch that they bring out the kid in us. And we all love to be kids once in a while.
