Few personalities in academics and scholarly literature have made as lasting an impression as Jun Xing. Xing is a prominent author and researcher known for his thorough research and perceptive insights. His interdisciplinary work covers several subjects, from race and ethnicity to popular culture, curricular development, and cultural interactions between the US and China.

Jun Xing’s early job as a Chinese diplomat shaped his literary and academic career. Xing, born in Beijing on February 12, 1955, studied English and Literature at Shanghai Foreign Studies University. His time as senior secretary to China’s foreign minister, Huang Hua, and as a diplomatic officer in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs impacted his career. His early experiences gave him a deep perspective of international relations, which he subsequently developed in his scholarship.

Transitioning from diplomacy to academics, Xing pursued a Ph.D. in American Studies at the University of Minnesota. He persistently studied complex cultural and social topics.
